Edgar Wright to Direct The Actor-brad Pitt in Evening Stalker Remake

With what appears just like a wise move for everybody involved, Disney has hired Edgar Wright (Scott Pilgrim, Rob from the Dead) to direct The Actor-brad Pitt within the Evening Stalker, an element remake from the 1972 ABC designed for TV movie of the identical title and also the series spin-off it inspired. The home follows reporter Carl Kolchak, whose research into criminal occurrences cause him to various supernatural villains Depp will star as Kolchak, which sounds promising given Wright's proven history in genre work, even when it feels as though similar tales came and gone recently with nary a blip (the Las vegas-set, vampire-designed Fright Evening remake, for just one). Regardless of the commercial disappointment of Scott Pilgrim (which nonetheless, it ought to be noted, continued to become cult hit), the film shown Wright's strength of vision and knack for refreshing, energetic storytelling -- characteristics woefully missing in Depp's last couple of projects, except for Rango. Even just in the well-loved and storied character of Jack Sparrow within the 4th Pirates from the Caribbean there is a glint sadly, noticeably missing from Depp's eyes. Refer to it as passion, or inspiration, or energy Depp can accomplish a starring submit his sleep, but he's at his best when combined with company directors with strong creative visions. Meanwhile, the Disney gig also appears just like a step-up for Wright, who co-authored The Adventures of Tintin and it is mounted on Ant-Guy but has yet to get rid of the threat of Scott Pilgrim. But presuming a good author is drawn on to pen a script, and presuming Disney finds a method to market it much better than it's this season's large budget pic John Carter, Evening Stalker could give all involved a proper career boost. Fingers entered! Disney Taps Edgar Wright To Helm The Actor-brad Pitt Within The Evening Stalker Feature Redo [Deadline]
